The Biofuels Manufacturers of Illinois (BMI) is pursuing the development of biodiesel from pennycress or “stinkweed”. BMI reports that it successfully grew the crop on 70 acres on 12 test sites in central Illinois. The company has applied for loan guarantees for the construction of a 45 million gpy biodiesel plant that would integrate pennycress into their production. (Source: Canadian Driver, June 14, 2009)
