Audi’s new A3 1.6 TDI models have dropped below the 100 g/km threshold to emit just 99 grams of CO2 — which corresponds to 61.9 mpg US. The 105-hp four-cylinder TDI engine accelerates the A3 from 0 to 60mph in 11.4 seconds with a top speed of 118 mph. Audi’s Modular Efficiency Platform, which employs a start-stop and energy recovery system, also helps make this the most fuel-efficient A3 ever. (Source: Audi, Green Car Congress, September 21, 2009)
