According to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) report, Small Wind Turbine Global Market Study, the sales of small wind turbines in the U.S. increased by 78% in 2008. The association indicates there are approximately 1000 small turbines generating about 17.3 MW of power in the country, and this capacity is expected to explode to 1,700 MW by 2013.
