The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Wind Energy Research and Development Act of 2009. The bill requires the Secretary of Energy to carry out a program of research and development to improve the energy efficiency, reliability, and capacity of wind turbines and authorizes $200,000,000 US per year from 2010 through 2014 for these programs.
