The UK government has formed a new Climate Adaptation Committee to provide lawmakers with expert advice on how to help Britons adapt to climate change. The committee will act as a sub-committee to the existing Climate Change Committee and will be chaired by Lord John Krebs, and ecology specialist from Oxford University’s Jesus College. Recently, Gordon Brown’s government released projections estimating that the UK will experience an average 2° Celsius (3.6°F) rise by mid-century, and up to 8° by 2080, leading to floods, water shortages and other threats.
