Santa Barbara-based BioJet Corp. has signed a deal with Las Vegas oil and fuel broker E85 for the sale of 4,000,000 barrels of aviation biojet fuel. The two-year contract is expected to take effect in 2011, according to BioJet Chief Executive Mitch Hawkins, following the anticipated approved for jet biofuel use by the end of 2010. The fuel standard is being developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials. BioJet Corp. was formerly known as JatrophaBioJet and plans to produce fuel from jatropha seeds, although the company is exploring camelina, algae and other feedstocks.
