NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH and Seambiotic USA will collaborate to optimize large-scale microalgae processes that use flue gas to create aviation fuel. The partners will work together to both improve the open-pond process and cut its cost. The partnership comes under the US Congress’s March 2009 Space Act Agreement, which allows NASA to combine its expertise in large scale computational modeling with Seambiotic’s biological process modeling to make significant advances.
